A Welcome Change

I’m sure you’ve heard the cheesy saying: “when a woman changes her hair, she’s about to change her life.” And I hate to admit it but that quote holds some truth 😅

In the beginning of the month I went to a salon for the first time in years. I consider myself relatively low-maintenance, so I’ve been coloring and cutting my own hair for several years now, but I became tired of my hair being so dark. If you’re anything like me (a textbook Virgo), then it’s likely that you’re highly impacted by your environment and appearance.

Since I’ve been using organic henna to dye my hair, we did a strand test to see how (or if) it would lift with bleach. My wonderful hairdresser said she’s heard horror stories of peoples’ hair actually melting when trying to lift the henna, and it’s to do with the fact that henna, a ground up plant, naturally has a lot of metals in it. Thankfully, my strand test turned out amazing. I think what helped was that I stopped dying my hair 4+ months ago, so the henna got a chance to wash out a bit.

Many things are changing externally as well as internally in my life (which I’ll talk about in a later blog post 😉), and so a drastic hair change seemed appropriate.

I have to be honest, it feels really strange to write a whole blog post about my hair, but I am trying to open my throat chakra. To put that in a non new-age way, I want to improve my linguistic skills.

Thank you for reading, I hope you have an amazing day! I’ll talk to you soon 💚
